The Solicitors Foundation Course, a comprehensive employability course designed for aspiring solicitors, takes place for six weeks from 14th October 2024 to 18th November 2024, for 2-3 hours per week.
The Solicitors Foundation Course aims to equip learners with the foundational skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the legal profession.
The course covers a wide range of topics, including functional skills, solicitor values and attributes, commercial awareness, and more, and is suitable for individuals who are looking to start a career in the legal profession as a trainee solicitor at a commercial law firm.

The Solicitors Foundation Course is designed for individuals who aspire to pursue a career as a solicitor and enhance their existing skills and knowledge in the legal field. It is suitable for recent graduates, current law or non-law undergraduate students, paralegals, and career changers who wish to enter the legal profession.

AllAboutLaw has assembled an expert teaching roster for The Solicitors Foundation Course. Each module will be taught by a different person, allowing you to obtain knowledge and insight from a wide range of industry professionals.
Jonathan is a Visiting Lecturer in Business Law at The University of Law, London, and a Professeur Adjoint in Finance at Grenoble Ecole de Management in Grenoble, France. When not teaching he serves as board director in a number of commercial enterprises covering technology, healthcare and real estate. Dual qualified in law and finance and with more than thirty years’ experience of finance, Jonathan is well equipped to explain the key insights in today’s fast changing world.
Emma is currently Head of Legal UK&I at SD Worx and has worked in-house at a range of international organisations throughout her career, including Manchester Airports Group. Emma also lectures at one of the leading law schools in the UK, and provides career advice to over 12,000 followers through her popular social media channels @InHousePotter.
Chrissie worked in the International Serious Injury team at Irwin Mitchell. She founded Law and Broader in 2017, a platform that helps aspiring lawyers, which has grown to over 100,000 followers. She has won multiple awards, and regularly guest lectures on legal education, mental health and well-being, and social media marketing.
Oliver is a Principal Associate at Weightmans, specialising in commercial and regulatory disputes, white collar and corporate crime. He was shortlisted for the Law Society Junior Lawyer of the Year 2021 and is the founder and Chair of The Young Professional community, supporting young professionals' careers by curating diverse networks, improving skills and building confidence.
Sophie is an Associate at Herbert Smith Freehills specialising in Restructuring, Turnaround and Insolvency. Having trained at BCLP and worked across the City in numerous law firms and other institutions, Sophie is well-placed to share her skills, knowledge and experience to aspiring solicitors, having amassed close to 15,000 followers on @lawwithsophie.
Megan is an Associate in the Insolvency & Restructuring Litigation team at Mishcon de Reya. With over three years of paralegal experience, and following completion of her Training Contract at Trowers & Hamlins in 2022, Megan has experience working in a variety of firms. Megan regularly mentors aspiring solicitors and also runs the Instagram page @itsallhearsay, which was created to offer help, motivation and guidance to all aspiring lawyers.
